St. Benedict’s RC Middle School is a school we can be proud of; We are a 'Good School', which is a positive place to be where our pupils become responsible citizens. (Ofsted report June 2015)
I am delighted that the journey of hard work and commitment to the school by pupils, staff, parents and governors has been recognised and celebrated. This was endorsed by Ofsted in stating:
"The executive headteacher, governors and managers at all levels are very effective in ensuring that teaching continues to improve."
The report highlights our many outstanding features. We are particularly pleased and proud that once again our pupils behaviour has been recognised as outstanding, in particular,
"There is an outstanding atmosphere for learning throughout the school. Pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is outstanding. The school's provision of care, guidance and support for pupils and their families is outstanding. Arrangements for keeping pupils safe and secure are outstanding."
In their summing up the Inspector stated that our pupils had 'lifted his spirits'; we smiled, they do that to us everyday.
Please look around our website, and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. I am more than happy to arrange a mutually suitable time to speak to all.
Following the consultation period which took place over the last year, a final decision has now been confirmed to close St Benedict’s from 31 August 2017. This is undeniably a sad time for everyone involved in St Benedict’s but we are pleased that Catholic education will be secured in Ashington and the surrounding districts for the future with the expansion of St Aidan’s to become a primary from September 2017 on the St Benedict’s site. The letter from the Office of the School’s Adjudicator is available below.
